A listed platform provides hardware context. Flashing, debugging, and measurements also depend on your board, probe, connections, and installed tools. Catalog inclusion does not certify those combinations. A board-specific skill helps with pinouts and setup when it is available for your selected platform and matches your board revision.
Set up your hardware
- Select the platform that matches your MCU or board during project setup. Include the exact device, board revision, and SDK version in your request.
- Add the sensors, modules, and other parts fitted to your board with
/peripheral. Attach schematics so Embedder can check the connections. - Connect your probe or instrument and open Monitor to check the available connections. Record the build, flash, and debug commands in EMBEDDER.md.

Use a board-specific skill
Board skills appear only for matching project platforms. Selecting an MCU family or mentioning a board in chat may not make its board skill available. For example, the Nucleo-F031K6 reference requires a matching board platform such asNUCLEO-F031K6; selecting STM32F031 alone does not enable it.
- During project setup, search for and select the matching board platform shown in its guide.
- Open the slash-command picker and check that the board skill appears before asking Embedder to use it.
- If the matching platform or skill is unavailable, attach the board manual and schematic and ask Embedder to use those documents.
Debug probes
Use GDB debugging to set breakpoints, inspect variables, and investigate faults. Open the setup page for SEGGER J-Link, OpenOCD with a compatible probe, TI CCS and XDS, or XMOS xTAG and xgdb. Install the matching tools and provide the MCU, probe, and firmware image for your board. For instruction trace and coverage, see J-Trace. Streaming instruction trace requires compatible trace hardware, target support, and wiring. For bridge programming, see probe-rs. For XMOS simulation, see xsim.Connections to your board
- Serial, RTT, ITM, and xSCOPE: read firmware output and send commands over a supported connection.
- CAN: monitor and send frames through a supported USB adapter.
- Bluetooth Low Energy: discover devices and work with their services and characteristics.
- Remote bridges: use hardware connected to another machine.
